Geoff Keighley confirms The Game Awards 2024 will feature over 50 world premieres with expected reveals including the next Naughty Dog title and a new FromSoftware IP.

Geoff Keighley has officially announced The Game Awards 2024, confirming it will be the largest edition of the show in its 10-year history. The ceremony will feature over 50 world premieres — up from 42 in 2023 — with Keighley promising "at least three announcements that the gaming industry has been waiting years for." The show will broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 12th.

Confirmed aspects of the show include expanded voting for Player's Voice awards, with the category now accounting for 30% of the total GOTY weighting following community feedback about last year's results. The show has also confirmed it will introduce two new categories: "Most Innovative Accessibility Features" and "Best Live Service Evolution," the latter recognizing games that have meaningfully improved since launch.

Industry speculation centers on a handful of anticipated announcements. Naughty Dog's post-The Last of Us project has reportedly reached a stage where a reveal trailer is complete. FromSoftware's next project after Elden Ring's DLC cycle concludes has been the subject of intense fan theorizing. Additionally, Nintendo is expected to use TGA as a platform for a major Switch 2 software reveal following the console's hardware announcement earlier in 2024.

The awards show's cultural footprint continues to grow. Last year's broadcast drew 118 million livestream viewers across platforms, making it one of the most-watched gaming events ever. This year's show has secured partnerships with Netflix, Amazon, and several major studios for game-to-screen adaptation announcements, suggesting the show will blur the lines between gaming and entertainment media in new ways.

Absolutely massive news. The gameplay footage exceeded every expectation I had. Fall 2025 can't come soon enough.

The detail in the world design shown in that trailer is staggering. Rockstar clearly spent years perfecting every block.

Never thought I'd see the day. Lucia as protagonist is a great choice — really excited for the dual story structure.
