Rockstar Games has officially confirmed GTA VI for Fall 2025, unveiling 12 minutes of gameplay featuring Lucia and Jason across a stunning recreation of Vice City and beyond.

Rockstar Games has officially confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI for a Fall 2025 release window, ending years of fan speculation with a staggering gameplay reveal that crashed YouTube's servers within minutes of going live. The 12-minute showcase introduced players to Lucia, the series' first playable female protagonist since 2000, alongside her partner Jason, as they navigate a lovingly recreated Vice City — now rebranded as Leonida — set in the modern era.

The gameplay footage demonstrated systems far beyond anything the series has attempted before. NPCs follow complex daily routines, the economy shifts dynamically based on player actions, and police response has been completely overhauled with a reputation-based escalation system that replaces the traditional star rating. The world is substantially larger than GTA V's map, incorporating coastal beach towns, swamplands, and a dense urban core across several distinct regions.

Confirmed features include co-op story missions for Lucia and Jason, a restructured heist planning system with multi-day operations, destructible environments, and a satirical social media layer built into the game world where NPCs film player actions and post them in-game. The gunplay has been reworked from the ground up with cover mechanics closer to a modern third-person shooter.

The reveal has shattered records across every metric. The announcement trailer accumulated 180 million views within 24 hours — more than any music video in YouTube's history. Pre-orders opened within an hour of the reveal and sold out physical allocations at major retailers within four hours. Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive saw its share price jump 15% on the news, with analysts revising revenue projections for fiscal 2026 upward by over $2 billion.

The detail in the world design shown in that trailer is staggering. Rockstar clearly spent years perfecting every block.

Never thought I'd see the day. Lucia as protagonist is a great choice — really excited for the dual story structure.
